Context
Pluto’s content library changes weekly as new titles are added and others are removed. Badges emerged as a key tool to highlight important content attributes—such as “New,” “Exclusive,” or “Leaving Soon”—at a glance. However, inconsistent placement and overlapping badges led to visual clutter and confusion. This project focused on creating a clear, scalable badge strategy to improve discoverability while maintaining a clean and intuitive viewing experience.
Problem
Existing badging system is outdated and lacks clear guidelines around usage, hierarchy, and placement. This led to inconsistent execution, resulting in visual clutter, conflicting messages, and reduced effectiveness in helping users make a watch decision.
Solution
I established a scalable badging system with clear guidelines for placement, hierarchy, and styling. This included a documented framework for how multiple badges should be displayed across multiple features. By collaborating with stakeholders and user sights, I refined the badging systems to balance clarity, impact, and created a roadmap for future iterations.
